Final Post

Today I ended up fixing a few details on my house (ie. Elevated areas and changing the colour scheme).  I also created two new bunkers and shrunk the beachhead so that my defences weren’t as spread out.

My final project ended up drifting off from which I had originally planned.  I actually didn’t end up using any tutorials and imported a lot fewer models than I had expected.  The only models I imported were a few windows and otherwise made everything from scratch.  In the beginning, I was very focused on creating the house, so I ended up spending most of my time on the house alone.  I think I ended up spending at least 6 classes working on it.  Henceforth, I became rushed towards the end of the project and didn’t put as much detail as I would have liked into my bunker, boats and other war material.   I ended up not putting any vehicles into my project due to the fact that I was concentrating more on the emplacement of my defences.  I would have imported some from the 3D warehouse, but some of the models were so large that it ended up taking a long time to save my final project.  I thought about using tutorials and looked at a few.  But I figured that I could get a lot more done on my project by working along the way and finding out how to do things myself.

The cliffs and trenches are complete

Today I worked on adding a cliff to my assignment.  I also added more bunkers and finished off making my trenches.  They are now complete and I've put my mortars in them.  I also decided to add more sandbags to my trenches to make them look more elevated in comparison to the house right beside them.

More defences

Today I started working on my trench and mortar.  Right now I'm trying to work on some sandbags (as evident on my trench).  Right now I'm trying to get the right form.  Sandbags are a bit difficult since they have a more fluid form.  You can also note my aerial view of the landing zone.  I have included a flotilla of Higgins boats and anti-tank defences.

Boats and Bunkers

Right now my project is a little bit scattered.  When I get stuck on one model, I move onto the next one.  So far this strategy isn't going too badly, but it might get a bit confusing later.  As you can see, I just finished my bunker and am currently working on my higgins boat.

Defences

Well I'm finally done my house at Bernieres-Sur Mer (pictures from last post).  I touched up the roof a little bit and added another window.  Worked on some tank traps today using the rectangle tool and the transform tool.  Probably going to work on a couple of Higgins boats or bunkers next.

My house

Here's the house I'm trying to build.  It's one of the buildings at Bernieres Sur Mer in France.  The only 3-d model i downloaded were the windows in the third picture to the top right.  Evidently my model isn't to scale and doesn't look exactly like the real thing.  But I think that the house is turning out better than expected.

New Post

Almost done the roof of my house.  I'm wondering if I'm being more meticulous than I should.  I'm measuring the distances between lines and making them exact for everything.  That's probably why my progress is so slow lately. I ended up making the roof by creating a cube as the top and then carving it out with the line tool.  Then I painted it with bricks to give it a nice roof looking effect.
